MAOMAH concert
Wednesday, Aug 13, 6:00 PM, voluntary admission
The ensemble MAOMAH was founded by double bassist and composer Klára Pudláková as her master’s project at the Jazz Department of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU). The creative principle of MAOMAH is the development of original compositions and concepts based on classical music through improvisation and rhythmic freedom adopted from jazz. Klára’s fellow players and occasional co-creators are violinists Anna Romanovská Fliegerová, Jana Havláková, and Milan Jakeš.
What brings these four musicians together was perhaps best described by M. Jakeš: “We celebrate spontaneous improvisation as a way to break free from the rigid bonds and consensuses of reality. Everything is allowed; the play of creative imagination begins. The only thing we have is our responsibility on the journey through life.”
The concert in Kraffer’s Garden will offer the audience a unique experience connecting music, dance, and the local genius loci. The concert will be accompanied by dancer Beáta Romanovská.

Lenka & Vít Chaloupka: Wes – a playful western comedy, performed by the Suchdol
Theater Company SUD, directed by L. Chaloupková, 5+
A playful performance with elements of slapstick. Will they manage to reform the slacker, free
the kidnapped beauty, and achieve justice? The lyrics of the opening song hint at what it’s about:
“Though we don’t want to be great sages, we want to know the cause of things, why half the world
are just slackers, they don’t care at all that the leader is a fool. Don’t stand in the corner, they’ll rip you off…” Simply put,
come and see for yourself. The production made it to Jiráskův Hronov 2024.
screening of the film Waves
Saturday, Aug 16, 8:30 PM
The period film Waves, directed by Jiří Mádl, reveals the thrilling and previously hidden stories of Czechoslovak Radio journalists. In the late 1960s, when rock ‘n’ roll echoed from the airwaves and student revolts were changing the world, the older of two brothers joins a prestigious radio newsroom. He soon finds himself in a dangerous struggle between editors and secret services. In the whirlwind of events, everyone’s life will soon be at stake, and the protagonist faces a harsh choice: protect his brother, or the truth and his colleagues? The film is inspired by the true story of a group of journalists from the international desk of Czechoslovak Radio and their determination to deliver independent news at any cost.
Brass Harmony
Sunday, Aug 17, 4:00 PM, voluntary admission
A brass quintet performing classical music by George Frideric Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as swing and famous melodies by the likes of Paul McCartney.

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you will decorate a mug according to your own style – whether with delicate flowers, cheerful motifs, or a minimalist design. All tools and materials are included in the price. At the end, you will take home not only a hand-painted mug but also a pleasant experience. Pre-registration is not required.
Scavenger hunt with garden gnomes
anytime the garden is open
Garden gnomes Hlíz and Chocholík are setting out to explore Kraffer’s Garden – this year, a whole range of new tasks awaits them. The scavenger hunt, which includes tasks for both small and big children, is not timed, and you can come and play it in the garden anytime. And you might even learn something new. The illustrations for the scavenger hunt were created by Linda Marková (author of the book About the Garden Gnome). The books you will come across while playing the scavenger hunt were donated to the garden by the Kanzelsberger bookstore.
