Theatre in the Garden

Theatre in the Garden 2025

On Saturday, July 12, the Theatre in the Garden festival will take place in the Kraffer Garden. It will offer performances for children that will keep adults entertained too, along with a variety of accompanying activities.

At 10 AM, the program kicks off with the ensemble Loutky bez hranic (Puppets Without Borders) and their play Nedopečený koláček (The Half-Baked Cookie). The performance won the second year of the AMPLION 2021 international puppet theatre festival, and its author and lead performer, Dora Bouzková, was nominated for the 2020 THÁLIE AWARD in the PUPPET THEATRE category. The show will be followed by a sweet pastry workshop.

At 2 PM, Divadlo DIP will perform their interactive storytelling show Stromocity (Tree-motions). Its creation was inspired by Peter Wohlleben’s philosophy of deep respect for nature and its ecosystems, especially the forest. The interconnectedness of trees, their structure, and their ability to cooperate were at the heart of the four stories that Stromocity tells. Come find out what happened with the willow that kept nothing for itself, or the tall poplar that could see further than anyone else.

Divadlo Buřt and their piece O rybáři a jeho ženě (The Fisherman and His Wife) is another performance that draws both young and old viewers directly into the action. This fairy tale, based on the well-known story showing that those who want more end up with nothing, is sure to be an exceptional experience for everyone.

For one day, the White Greenhouse will transform into a garden library. The Jindřichův Hradec Municipal Library is heading out into the greenery again, offering young and old readers the latest from the worlds of fiction and drama. In addition to existing library members, those who haven’t registered yet can also take a book home from the Kraffer Garden—on the occasion of the festival, the library is offering free annual registration for readers of all ages.

For children, there will be a Garden Gnome Scavenger Hunt and Sensory Play with Hračky Toč, a sensory experience full of discovery and experimentation. A pottery workshop with mug painting will provide a program for both children and adults who would enjoy a break with some creative handiwork. As always, there will be flowers for your vase or flowerbed from the Kraffer Garden, along with specialty coffee and homemade desserts from the Kraffer Café.

Come to the Kraffer Garden to enjoy a day full of theatre and other experiences, we look forward to seeing you!
