August in the Garden 2025

Concerts, theater, a garden quiz, and an open-air cinema

Wednesday, August 13, and the weekend of August 16–17, 2025

The program, titled August in the Garden, kicks off on Wednesday, August 13, with a concert by the band MAOMAH. This group was founded by double bassist and composer Klára Pudláková as her master’s project at the Jazz Department of Prague’s HAMU. The core principle of MAOMAH is developing original compositions and concepts based on classical music through improvisation and rhythmic freedom drawn from jazz. Band member Milan Jakeš describes their collaborative work like this: “We celebrate spontaneous improvisation as a way to break free from the rigid bonds and consensuses of reality. Everything is allowed; the play of creative imagination begins. The only thing we have is our responsibility on the journey through life.”

The concert in the Kraffer Garden will be accompanied by dancer Beáta Romanovská, creating a unique fusion of music, dance, and the local genius loci throughout the evening.

Saturday, the 16th 8. Visitors can look forward to a Herbs for Kids and Parents workshop, making your own herbal tea, and plenty of useful tips. From 2 PM, Duo Andy and Péťa Mottl will be playing for garden visitors. At 6 PM, the Suchdol Theater Group SUD will perform their show, Wes. This playful Western comedy, which made it to Jiráskův Hronov 2024, will entertain both adults and children. And the Saturday program doesn’t end there—the garden’s open-air cinema will screen Jiří Mádl’s film Waves starting at 8:30 PM—tickets here.

Sunday, the 17th 8. You can look forward to a concert by the Brass Harmony brass quintet starting at 4 PM. At 6 PM, you can test your knowledge of gardening and facts about the Kraffer Garden itself in our Garden Quiz. The evening will wrap up with a screening of animated films by students from the local arts school (ZUŠ) inspired by the garden’s history, followed by the documentary The Unforgotten Garden.

Throughout the weekend, you can once again visit the pottery workshop to paint your own mug or join the kids for a Garden Gnome Scavenger Hunt.

You can also shop at our florist or visit the Kraffer Café, which serves specialty coffee and homemade desserts daily throughout the summer.
