Telling the story of the garden together with you
A project created with the support of the Kul.turista project and the town of Jindřichův Hradec. It included an exhibition on the garden’s history, a workshop with Post Bellum (Memory of Nations), a live performance of the “Přepište dějiny” (Rewrite History) podcast in the garden, and a meeting between art school students and local witnesses. Based on this meeting, the children created 3 short films about the garden’s history in animation workshops. The project also involved collecting memories of the garden, which you can still take part in.

Saki Matsumoto Residency
The residency of Japanese artist Saki Matsumoto, led by curator Alena Kotyza, took place in the garden in the fall of 2025. In her work, Saki drew from newly acquired memories of the garden from the First Republic era and also prepared a total of 5 workshops for children. The result was the “Garden Stories” exhibition, which presented works by both the children and Saki—primarily graphics that combined the memories of a local witness with garden creatures created by the children during the workshops. Prints of the graphics are available for purchase on the garden’s e-shop. The residency took place as part of the Creative Europe project Magic Carpets, which we joined thanks to our partnership with České Budějovice 2028 – European Capital of Culture.
