IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JAN ANTON ZINNER

This season was dedicated to the implementation of the cross-border project “In the Footsteps of Jan Anton Zinner,” the creator of the original Baroque design of the Kraffer Garden.

In May, together with our partners from the Austrian organization Ökokreis, we created an annual flower bed using period varieties that decorated the garden until October. We met again during the Open Gardens Weekend, where we agreed the flower bed was a great success and even planted several fruit trees of heritage varieties. You—our supporters from Hithit—lent us a hand with that yourselves.

In September, we set off on an expedition to explore gardens created by Jan Anton Zinner and others. We started at the wonderfully restored garden in Schlosshof, Austria. This was followed by our great inspiration, the Herb Garden in Valtice, and the UNESCO gem, the Lednice castle garden. Our journey concluded at the second of Zinner’s gardens—Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou.

The project includes the publication of several materials about the Kraffer Garden with foreign language translations, as well as updates and language versions of our website. The icing on the cake will be a documentary about the garden, which involved many local witnesses and other wonderful people. We’re preparing its release for you very soon.

This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund
