SPRING Book Club

New book club in the garden

Do you love books? And do you enjoy talking about them even more? Then we have some great news for you: a new book club is starting in Jindřichův Hradec, meeting once a month in the inspiring atmosphere of Kraffer’s Garden. The first meeting will take place on Thursday, October 23, at 6:00 PM. You’ll hear the short story “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” by J. D. Salinger, followed by an informal discussion not only about the story itself but about literature in general. So, if you want to spend a lovely evening over a book and meet fellow reading enthusiasts, you are cordially invited.

Further literary meetings are already planned for the autumn months; in November, we will read Vladimir Sorokin’s novel “The Blizzard,” and in December, the classic work by Karel Klostermann, “From the World of Forest Solitudes.” “I’ve been looking for a group of fellow book enthusiasts like myself in Hradec and the surrounding area for a long time. When I couldn’t find one, I decided to start such a friendly, relaxed club myself,” says Tereza Dubenská, the club’s initiator, explaining her motivation.
The book club is open to all ages. You don’t have to be a passionate bookworm; what matters is the desire to share stories, opinions, and thoughts. For more information, you can contact the organizers via email at ctenarskyklubjh@gmail.com.

Club meetings:
Feb 12, 6:00 PM Josef Čapek: An Ordinary Life
Mar 12, 6:00 PM John Steinbeck: Tortilla Flat
Apr 16, 6:00 PM Forrest Carter: The Education of Little Tree
May 14, 6:00 PM Jack London: The Star Rover
